To be able to play all factions, you have to buy: So for example,if you buy base game + wfa + british,as far as steam library entries go,you are getting:īase game + + which is why they warn you of not being able to get a second copy which is the base game even though none of the standalone comes with base game content. They are not saying that you already own the standalone dlcs. Secondly, the faction dlcs are considered standalone, meaning you need not purchase the original game to have access to those factions BUT as explained earlier, you still need to download the whole game.Even though they are standalone, they are still classified as DLCs of the ORIGINAL game. For the purpose of steam entries in your library,Steam has to provide PSEUDO ownership of the base game to those who only bought the standalone because the standalones do not have seperate entries.Īs such, when you purchase the original game along with any of the standalone dlcs, they are providing "extra" copies of the original game with each standalone dlc you buy.The "second" copy they are refering to is the base game. ![]() To explain how it all works, first you have to understand that any COH2 dlc requires the base/vanilla game to be installed. For example, even if you bought only the western front army, you still need to install the whole game including all other dlcs in order to play. This is to ensure that you can still play with those who have a different dlc from you.Imagine if you didn't have any of the british forces dlc files.how are you going to be able to play against them? It is just how the system nvoluted as it is. ![]()
